Syringe “units” are volume marks on the barrel (on a U-100 syringe 1 unit = 0.01 ml), not a measure of the peptide, and not IU. A measurement aid for laboratory handling only: not dosing, administration, or medical guidance. Figures assume the powder adds negligible volume to the diluent.

A syringe “unit” is a volume mark, not IU. Check whether your syringe is U-100 or U-40 before you measure: the same volume reads differently on each.
Worked examples
- 10 mg + 2 ml → 5 mg/ml. A 250 mcg sample is 0.05 ml, or 5 units on a U-100 syringe. The vial holds ~40 such draws.
- 5 mg + 1 ml → 5 mg/ml. A 500 mcg sample is 0.10 ml, or 10 units on a U-100 syringe.
- 50 mg + 5 ml → 10 mg/ml. A 1 mg sample is 0.10 ml, or 10 units on a U-100 syringe.
How to reconstitute
- 1Bring to room temperature
Let the lyophilised vial and the bacteriostatic water equilibrate to room temperature before you start.
- 2Swab both stoppers
Wipe the rubber stopper of the peptide vial and the water vial with a fresh alcohol swab.
- 3Add the water slowly
Draw your chosen volume of bacteriostatic water and let it run down the inside wall of the vial, not directly onto the powder.
- 4Swirl, don't shake
Gently swirl or roll the vial until fully dissolved. Shaking foams and can stress the peptide.
- 5Store cold
Refrigerate the reconstituted vial at 2–8 °C, protected from light, and use within its stability window.
A note on the numbers
Concentration is the peptide mass divided by the water volume. The calculator assumes the lyophilised powder adds negligible volume, which holds at the milligram scale. It reports measurement only, never dosing, administration route, or frequency. You need bacteriostatic water and an appropriate syringe; both are on our consumables page.
