About GDF-8 (Myostatin)

GDF-8 (Growth/Differentiation Factor 8), or myostatin, is a recombinant TGF-β-superfamily protein and a negative regulator of skeletal-muscle mass (human MSTN, UniProt O14793). It is expressed as a 375-residue precursor cleaved to an active ~25 kDa disulfide-linked homodimer (~12.5 kDa monomer). As a recombinant protein it has no small-molecule formula, mass, or CAS.

For laboratory research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.
