NAD⁺ is the oxidised form of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, a pyridine dinucleotide coenzyme of an adenine nucleotide and a nicotinamide nucleotide joined by a pyrophosphate bridge. It is a central redox cofactor (NAD⁺/NADH couple) and a co-substrate for NAD⁺-consuming enzymes such as sirtuins, PARPs and CD38. It is not a peptide.
